The Peterson Law Group
was founded to serve the needs of Southern
California in focused aspects of Real Estate
Law. The firm has expanded to provide
emphasis on litigation and trial of disputes
arising from:
Founder of the firm, John was born and
educated in Southern California and knows
the territory intimately.
While attending the University of
California, Los Angeles, he became familiar
with public works projects as an intern to
the California State Senate Transportation
Committee. After graduating magna cum laude
as a member of Phi Beta Kappa with his B.A.
in Economics, he went on to receive his J.D.
from the UCLA School of Law where he was a
member of the Moot Court Honors Program and
a student of the Clinical Program in Trial
Advocacy.
He began practicing law in 1981 as an
associate attorney in a Westside real estate
boutique law firm where he worked in
subdivision, land use and related
litigation. Over the years his practice has
developed into the focused areas that are
now emphasized by the firm. He has handled
a wide range of land cases, representing
private property owners, national realty
companies, land holding companies, ski
resorts, motel chains, and governmental
bodies such as transportation authorities,
school districts, airports and various
municipal agencies.
