“I work to protect people whose lives have been turned upside down. We start a case by stepping back and imagining what a trial could look like, and then build the case accordingly. I like to boil down complex topics into relatable concepts that anyone could understand.”

In addition to helping his clients achieve excellent results both by jury trials and by settlement in his practice areas, Chris Peterson has given oral argument for administrative decision appeals; he has pursued a creditors claim for a client against the estate of popstar Michael Jackson in Probate Court; he has been involved in environmental contamination litigation; and has experience in various complicated land use transactional projects. Chris draws on the experience and skills he developed as a Division 1 college football player and Division 1 college football coach and recruiter for six years prior to law school. “Believe it or not, jury trials and every day litigation share a remarkable parallel with sports and game planning. They all require extreme attention to detail and preparation, and the ability to anticipate and adapt. You have to stay calm when the bullets are flying and be willing to get your hands dirty.”

Chris also says the skills he acquired in earning his Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction has prepared him well for jury trials and hearings in front of judges who make rulings. “Organization and presentation of material in a crystal clear, believable way is critical. So is deciding what is important, and what is not. You have a very short amount of time to make a lasting impression on your audience.”

Ross R. Hart, a long-time, well-known and trusted mediator and arbitrator in Los Angeles, says:

“I have served full time as a Special Master and mediator in complex, construction related multi‐party disputes for 25 years. My practice takes me regularly throughout the Western United States. During that time literally thousands of lawyers, experts, parties and claims personnel have appeared before me. I can say without reservation that Chris Peterson is at the very top of the young lawyers to come before me over these many years. He is sophisticated and seasoned way beyond his years. Always totally prepared, well spoken, creative, resourceful, excellent on his feet, calm, effective, a clear thinker who is patient along with very good judgment. Overall a very, very impressive young lawyer who in my opinion is destined for greatness in the legal profession.”

In 2019, Chris Peterson was nominated for the American Bar Association’s “On the Rise Top 40 Young Lawyers,” a national recognition.
